Mangalore, Mar 19: As part of the SJEC MBA Special Lecture Series, a special lecture on ‘Right to Information Act’ was organized by the department of business administration, St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor, Mangalore on Wednesday March 18.
Robinson D’Souza, former principal secretary, Karnataka legislature, delivered the lecture. He spoke about the purpose, scope, facilities and provisions of the said act. He cited many examples from the past and the recent incidents, relating to obtaining the information from public authorities. He emphasized that right to information is a powerful tool in the hands of citizens, to fight against corruption. It is an act drafted by the common people for the benefit of the common people, he explained.
Dr Prakash Pinto, dean-MBA, welcomed the gathering and Suraj Francis Noronha, faculty in-charge for Special Lecture Series proposed the vote of thanks. Director, Fr Valerian D’Souza, assistant director Fr Henry Mascarenhas, principal Dr Joseph Gonsalves, dean- Academics Prof A J Hegde, Dr Vincent Crasta – head of the department of physics, Godfrey Pinto – personnel manager and faculty members of MBA and other departments were present at the lecture programme.
