The PG Department of Biotechnology of St Aloysius College will organize a ‘Brain Awareness Programme’ sponsored by International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) as part of International Brain Awareness Week.
 
The series of lectures will be delivered by eminent scientists working in the fields of anatomy, neurology, neurophysiology, and psychiatry. Speakers will include Dr Arunachalam Kumar, dean, KSHEMA, Dr Madhava Rao, psychiatrist, Dr B P Shelley, head, neurology, Fr Muller Medical College, Dr Laxmi T Rao, assistant professor, NIMHANS.
 
The press release said that increasing demands in professional life and stress in daily life have made study of the brain paramount to human existence. It added that not only does the brain control the body’s functions it also forms the interface between the living being and his/her environment.

The release further said that the aim of this programme is to create awareness on brain structure and function in animals and humans with particular reference to disease/disorder conditions, and how neuroscientists work on the brain using different techniques and models.
 
An exhibition on the topic will also be organized on Saturday March 21. The event is open to the public and the exhibition is specifically targeted at high school children.
