Mangalore, Mar 17: Continuing its eviction drive against illegal shops and settlements in the city, MCC on Tuesday March 17 morning bulldozed a few shops which were functioning near deputy commissioner's office in the State Bank area here.
The MCC team led by revenue officer Praveen Karkera, Raghu Shetty and others arrived at the spot armed with Pandeshwar station and DIR police to evict the illegal shops there. It was only a few days ago that MCC had evicted many shops from the State Bank area.
Deputy commissioner Ponnuraj had even warned that if the illegal settlements are not vacated voluntarily, MCC would bulldoze them. Though a few of the shopkeepers had shifted their base voluntarily, a few more had turned a deaf ear to DC's warning and had continued with their business.
Meanwhile the MCC officials have also warned a few shopkeepers and individuals to remove all the sign boards which they have erected in front of the DC's office and Sea View building near Hamilton circle.
