Mangaluru, Apr 10: “The increased incidents of heart attacks especially among young people are shocking. There should be awareness about it among people,” said KMC hospital cardiologist Dr Padmanabha Kamath.

He was speaking at press club after donating ECG machine to media health clinic newly opened on Tuesday, April 9.

“Excessive smoking, stressed lifestyle and oil content in the food block blood arteries. Polluted air is another factor. Media and social work organisations also should help to create awareness,” he said.

District Working Journalists’ Association president Srinivas Nayak Indaje said that Media Health clinic is opened due to social concern. “Donation of ECG machine by Dr Padmanabha Kamath has helped in the cause. The service will be extended to other people in the future,” he said.

Press club president Annu Mangaluru, press club trust president Anand Shetty and association secretary Ibrahim Adkastala were present.

Journalist Vijay Kotian Padu compered the programme. Bhasker Shetty Katta rendered the vote of thanks.
