Bangalore, Mar 13: The International Association of Lions Clubs District 324 D6, The Lions Council, celebrated World Women’s Day on Wednesday March 11 at the MEWs Ladies Club, Malleshwaram.
Five deserving, eminent, women who have excelled in their respective careers, were also honoured. Dr Pushpa Dravid, teacher and artist, M D Pallavi, classical singer and TV star, Dr Atoshi Sinha, medical officer, Lions Blood Bank, R Bharathi, postwoman, and Shashikala, traffic inspector of police, Malleswaram police station, were the women who were felicitated on the occasion.
District chairman Deepak Suman extended a warm welcome to all. Associate chairperson Usha Pawar thanked all the club members for their support in carrying out service activities throughout the year.
Secretary Dr Madhu Ved presented the council report and stated that the amount distributed through various service activities was Rs 22 lac. The service activities included benefits for orphanages, schools, blood donations, scholarships, awareness programmes on Alzheimer’s and the like.
District Governor 324 D6 Vamsidhar Babu was the chief guest and in his address congratulated all the awardees and said that we should never listen to others who take away our positive thoughts since positivity is the key to success.
The programme was compered by Naveen Sridhar and Sowbhagya Eeshwariah and concluded with a vote of thanks by the council treasurer Ramani Naidu followed by high tea.
