Bangalore, Mar 13: The meeting held on the night of Thursday March 12 in New Delhi under the leadership of defence minister A K Antony is learnt to have made its recommendations to the high command. While it has recommended one name each for eight of the state's constituencies, two or more names were recommended in respect of others.
Reportedly, the committee has zeroed in on the names of ex-chief minister S M Krishna for Bangalore South constituency, union minister K H Muniyappa from Kolar, Mallikarjun Kharge from Gulbarga, Prashant Deshpande, son of KPCC president R V Deshpande from Karwar, S S Mallikarjun from Davangere, N Y Hanumantappa from Bellary, Gandasi Shivaram from Hassan and Manjunat Kunnur from Dharwad.
It is learnt, that from Mangalore constituency, names of Janardan Poojary, ex MP Vinay Kumar Sorake and KPCC general secretary Manjunath Bhandary have been put up. Names of M Veerappa Moily, who wanted to enter the fray from Mangalore and ex MLA M R Seetaram were recommended for Chickballapur seat, it is gathered.
The Central Election Committee of the Congress will be meeting in Delhi on Saturday March 14. The meeting is likely to announce the list of candidates in cases where one candidate each have been recommended, and bide time to decide on others.
