Bantwal, Mar 11: Because of the round-the-clock vigil by the policemen, the situation in the town which saw tension mounting after miscreants hurled bottles and stones at the car of a Hindu activist on the night of Sunday March 8, has returned to normalcy. No untoward incidents were reported from here on Tuesday March 10.
In the meanwhile, Karnataka Forum for Dignity (KFD) held a press conference in B C Road on Tuesday. Addressing the press persons, KFD district president Anwar Sadat accused the policemen of unnecessarily arresting an innocent tailor named Ubaidulla, a KFD member, in connection with the disturbances in the town and registering attempt to murder case against him.
He also alleged that the policemen have been practicing double-standards in registering only assault cases against Surendra Bantwal, complainant who has named Ubaidulla in his complaint, in respect of the assault on several persons by him the next day of the said incident.
"After the BJP rose to power in the state, constant efforts are being made to suppress the KFD organization, he said. KFD zone president Shaul S, secretary M Riaz, Abubakker and Issac were present.
In the meanwhile, the three persons who were arrested by the policemen in connection with the incidents were produced in the court. They have been remanded to judicial custody till March 11.
