Udupi, Apr 6: Police officials held a programme at Hiriadka Madhava Mangala auditorium here on Friday, April 5 to felicitate members of public who helped to nab a murder accused and accused under POCSO Act who had jumped from police vehicle and escaped when Manipal station police were escorting him to Hiriadka prison on March 31. A case in this regard was registered in Hiriadka police station. Udupi SP Nisha James, staff and local people held a manhunt day and night since March 31 until the accused was found.
The programme was chaired by Udupi SP Nisha James. Udupi sub division assistant SP Jai Shanker welcomed and Udupi additional SP Kumarchandra in his address commended the cooperation of people. He requested for similar information and help to the police in the future.
Krishnaprasad Shetty and Krishna Kulal speaking on behalf of people thanked for the felicitations. The SP felicitated Srilatha and Pushpalatha and issued letters of appreciation to people who helped. She said that such cooperation with the police is an example to others. She said that it is a link between police and the people to prevent crime.
Police circle inspector, Brahmavar, K C Poovaiah rendered the vote of thanks. Prakash Shetty, teacher, Nittur School compered the programme. All the police officials and staff of Udupi and people were present.
