Mangaluru: Areas in coastal districts experience rain with thunder, wind and lightning

Mangaluru, Apr 5: Venoor in Beltangady taluk, Belve and Siddapur areas of Kundapur taluk, and several areas in Karkala taluk experienced rain with thunder, strong wind, and lightning on Thursday, April 4 afternoon. Hebri and nearby areas got good rainfall for an hour from 4 pm.

Kodagu district, which was going through heat wave conditions, got relief in the form of rain with thunder and lightning on Thursday. Several places including some in Madikeri taluk got good rainfall for about 30 minutes. The rain brought smiles back on the faces of coffee growers as they were finding it hard to get water to sprinkle to their plantations. Somwarpet experienced hailstorm.

During the 24-hour ended 8.30 am on Thursday, Kalaburagi registered highest temperature in the state of 42.6 degree celsius. The meteorological department has predicted rain with thunder in a few places. This prediction is valid till Saturday morning. The meteorological department's observatory said that sea in Karnataka, Kerala, and Lakshadweep areas might experience sudden spurt as there is possibility of wind with a velocity of 15 to 45 km per hour blowing from southern direction from Tamil Nadu coast. This condition might prevail till 11.30 pm on April 5.
