Udupi, Apr 5: "BJP candidate from Udupi - Chikkamagaluru constituency, Shobha Karandlaje, is herself a child of circumstances, but she is mistakenly identifying others as such. Many leaders were on their toes to fight this election from this constituency as BJP candidate and Shobha had faced opposition and defiance from her own party workers for her candidature. Everyone knows that they had also launched 'Shobha Go Back' campaign. Pramod Madhwaraj belongs to a family known for leading a noble life and donating to social causes. He is not a child of circumstances," insisted district Congress election campaign committee president, Dinesh Putran, and Udupi assembly constituency election campaign committee president, Krishnamurthy Acharya, in a joint press statement.
"Pramod Madhwaraj has been fighting this election on JD(S) symbol as the consensus candidate of Congress and JD(S) parties. There is no confusion among either the party workers or voters about this fact. Workers of both the parties are together seeking votes for Madhwarj all over the constituency. Shobha should understand that Pramod had sanctioned grants for the construction of well-equipped fish market at N R Pura within Sringeri assembly constituency and laid foundation stone for the same along with local MLA, Jeevaraj. We have before us proof of Pramod, as minister, having brought grants from various departments for overall development of the constituency. Shobha's statement that Pramod, when he was minister, never went out of his constituency, shows her lack of knowledge. Even though it is true that he gave more importance to the constituency which voted him to power, he has never gone back from bringing grants from different departments and implementing development projects in all the constituencies," they claimed.
They further said that if elected, Pramod Madhwaraj will impartially work for the overall progress of Sringeri, Tarikere, Mudigere, Chikkamagaluru, Udupi, Kundapur, Kaup and Karkala assembly constituencies by regularly visiting them. He will also provide top priority to mitigating problems of the people there. For Madhwaraj, there is nothing to learn from Shobha Karandlaje, who had totally neglected her constituency during her term. He does not need any lessons on development and addressing problems of the people from Shobha," Dinesh Putran and Krishnamurthy Acharya stated.
