Madikeri, Mar 9: "Once the Loksabha election concludes, 'Operation Kamala' executed by the BJP will prove to be counter-productive to that party," predicted ex-deputy chief minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah.
The failures of the state BJP government and the achievements of the union government led by UPA will ensure that a large number of Congress candidates come out victorious in the Loksabha election, he added. Siddarmaiah was speaking to the press persons during his visit to the town to hold consultations with Kodagu district Congress party leaders.
He clarified that the Congress will not enter into alliance with any other party at the state-level. In an effort to wriggle off the stigma created by the widespread belief that he had not campaigned for the party candidates in the last assembly election, Siddu said he had undertaken electioneering tour of sixty constituencies.
Siddaramaiah said that the names of the party's candidates from the state would be announced after the conclusion of the high-level meeting being held by the party in Delhi for finalizing the list of candidates on the 12th of this month. He expressed the opinion that the party’s chances will brighten further in Kodagu district, if the organizational activities get a little thrust.
When asked about the number of Congress candidates likely to come out victoriosu in the election, Siddu refused to plunge into the guessing game. He merely said that the Congress candidates will win more seats than the BJP.
