Kundapur, Apr 3: “People of the MP’s own party have started a ‘Go Back’ movement against her. It is ironical that the prime minister did not ask her to work even though when he knew about it. The policy of union government’s environment department has made the sand issue here so very complex. MP Shobha is responsible for it,” said Udupi-Chikkamagaluru coalition candidate Pramod Madhwaraj.
He was speaking in the meeting of activists held in the leadership of Kundapur block Congress committee at Kundapur R N Shetty mini hall on Tuesday.
“The government is not answering to what happened to the seven fishermen. There are suspicions that the Indian navy has knocked the boat off. Minister Nirmala Sitharaman who did not bother even after fifty thousand fishermen got down on the road and protested, appeared when Shobha Karandlaje was submitting her nomination,” he said wryly.
“I have brought more than Rs 2,000 crore grant when I was the MLA. Therefore, I have received three government promotions during my term. I have unexpectedly received an opportunity to be MP now. If the people give me the opportunity, I will make eight Vidhan Sabha constituencies here as model,” he said.
“I have never betrayed Congress. JDS has shown their generosity by giving an opportunity to contest. Congress too has shown their broad mind. Ours is a coalition of milk and honey. We should work together for the success of the coalition,” he said.
District in charge minister Jayamala said that they have joined to defeat communal party which has lived on repeated lies. “What did the Modi led government do during the last five years? It could not give jobs to youth. They used youth only to hoist flags. They have passed five years by turning their faces. Do not get cheated for another five years,” she said.
“Children should know the contributions of Congress after independence and history. Support us because we think about the poor, women and the youth. Elect Pramod Madhwaraj for a strong country,” she said.
District Congress president Ashok Kumar Kodavooru, Mamatha Gatty, M A Gafoor, Malyadi Shivarama Shetty, Vasudeva Yadiyala, Mani Gopala and others were present.
