Sullia, Mar 7: The Sullia court has instructed the police to register cases against Mangalore Loksabha BJP candidate Nalin Kumar Kateel, Jagadish Karant of Hindu Jagaran Vedike and ten others, on a complaint filed by a local person. The orders were issued on Friday March 6.
A person named K S Ummer from Gandhinagar here, had preferred a private complaint in the court through senior advocate Sooryanarayan Bhat, alleging that the above accused had delivered communally-provocative speeches at the Hindu Jagruti Meet held at the Sullia bus stand on February 26 this year. The court was told during the verification of the complaint, that the speakers at the said meet had made derogatory remarks against the Muslim community and that the speeches were communally provocative in nature.
The accused are, speakers Nalin Kumar Kateel, Jagadish Karant, Gopalakrishna Bhat and Srinidhi Hegde, programme organizers taluk Hindu Dharma Jagruti Vedike office-bearers Ramaiah Bhat Panja, Dayanand Bana, Navin Rai Menala, Sanjay Kumar Paichar, advocates Deepak Todikana, Deepak Bablubettu, Krishbnakumar Mattila and P K Umesh. The police are likely to file first information report on the case in the court on Saturday March 7.
