Mangaluru, Apr 1: As oil continued to leak from a KSRTC bus from Ambedkar Circle here till Lalbagh, over ten two-wheeler riders skidded, fell to the road, and suffered injuries. The incident happened on Sunday March 31.
Oil began to leak from a government bus that was moving to Bhatkal from the city since it crossed Ambedkar Circle. Several two-wheeler riders who followed the bus applied brakes on seeing oil and fell down. A few citizens, who found that many were facing risk because of oil, placed stones on the oil line. An auto rickshaw driver, instead of following others who began to hurl abuses at the bus driver for his carelessness, brought sand in his auto rickshaw and began to cover the leaked oil with it. His initiative saved two-wheeler riders from suddenly falling on the roads and risking their lives besides suffering injuries.
Although oil leak was quite heavy, the driver was unaware of it. Some car drivers overtook the bus at Lalbagh and asked the driver to stop the vehicle, duly pointing out at the oil leak. The passengers were then shifted to another bus and repairs were undertaken to plug the leakage.
