Udupi, Mar 6: ‘Upadhyaya Sanmana’, the fourth annual state-level awards ceremony and inaugural of decennial celebrations of Upadhyaya Moodubelle Kala Pratisthan will be held at 2.30 pm on Sunday March 8, under the aegis of Puttige Sri Krishna Math and the Pratisthan, said Upadhyaya Moodubelle, chairman of the Pratisthan, at a press conference here on Thursday March 5.
Sri Sugunendrateertha Swamiji of Puttige Math will inaugurate the programme. Harikrishna Punaroor, former president, Karnataka Kannada Sahitya Academy, will preside over the decennial celebrations.
Karnataka Kannada Sahitya Academy Dakshina Kannada district president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura and deputy director of public instructions K Anand will be the specially-invited guests on the occasion.
Upadhyaya Sanmana award winners B Krishnamurti Samaga Udupi, J L Narayan Tantri Karkala, Sarvottam Tantri Korangrapady, Karunakar Tanatri Kalattoor, Bellarpady Ramanand Bhat, K Prasanna Acharya Nitte-Kemman N Vittal Bhat Nandalike, Dr H K Suresh Acharya Udupi, K S Narasimha Bhat Aroor and Chempy Ramachandra Anant Bhat, will be awarded the Veda awards.
Honourary awards will be presented to Dr Na D’Souza, Sagar, (literature), Dr Mahabaleshwar Rao, Udupi, (education), Dr Bhaskaranand Kumar, Manipal, (medical), Dr Na Damodar Shetty, Mangalore, (arts critic), Ambatanaya Mudrady (‘Hari Katha’ – literature), P S Puninchittaya, Kasargod, (fine arts), A V Madhavan Poduval (astrology), Gangifa Raghupathi Bhat (Ganjifa art), Manohar Prasad, Mangalore, (journalism), I K Boluvar, Puttur, (children’s stage programme) and Pratibha M L Samaga (folk dance).
Special awards will be presented to Murali Kadekar, Udupi, (Yakshagana), Purushottam Adve, Udupi, (fine arts), N S Pattar, Mangalore, (art critic), Kodangala Vasudev Bhat (cooking), Lata Tantri Kutyar (music), Anu Pavanje, Mumbai, (Chikani arts), Janardhan Kodavoor (photography) and Prahlad Acharya, Udupi, (magic).
There will be a painting demonstration by Kasargod artist P S Punichittaya.
Prasanna Laxmi Alevoor, Pratyumna, and Raghavendra, were present at the press conference.
