Bangalore, Mar 6: State director general of police Dr Ajai Kumar Singh made a strong plea for the setting up of a separate training cell to train policemen to be able to affectively counter the problems created by terrorism and naxalism. He was addressing the participants after taking part in the inaugural of the two-day conference of the state's senior police officers that went under way on Thursday March 5, at the office of the state director general of police.
"The policemen need to be imparted with specialized training to be able to handle problems like terrorism and naxalism that are increasingly creating hurdles to the law and order mechanism in the state of late. The policemen need specific training programmes to combat these problems. The state government should set up separate training cell for taking care of this requirement," he felt.
A proposal has already been submitted to the state government in this connection. Once the training cell starts functioning, the policemen would be better equipped to tackle the above problems affectively, Singh said. He also announced that the police constables with 15 years of unblemished service and head constables with a clean track record of 10 years will be given promotions.
