Mangaluru, Mar 30: Father Muller Charitable Institutions aims at compassionate care for the poor and high profile education through the various colleges like Father Muller Medical College, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing and Father Muller College of Nursing.
Father Muller College of Speech of Hearing organized a three day national seminar for speech and hearing 'Focus – 1' from March 28 to 30. 230 delegates from various states of India like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka were present.
The formal inauguration was presided over by Fr Richard A Coelho, director, FMCI. Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa, administrator, FMMCH was the chief guest for the programme.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp. Prof Akhilesh P M, principal, FMCOSH extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries and the delegates of the gathering.
The chief guest congratulated the college on its achievements accomplished in a short span and expressed hope to achieve the center of excellence award soon. He also emphasized the need for equipping oneself with knowledge and skills with an aptitude for the profession. Speaking about the scope of a profession he said that desire and willingness along with knowledge and expertise will make one readily venture into any avenue.
The president of the programme, Fr Richard A Coelho addressed the gathering by having them acknowledge the gifts of God and use them ethically while carrying out God’s mission of healing by becoming valuable instruments. At the end of the formal programme the organizing secretary Dr Santhosh Kumar thanked the dignitaries on /off the dais for their presence and valuable contributions.
The conference comprised of well articulated inputs from both international and national speakers and hands on experience. Specific topics discussed include opportunities and challenges for audiology and speech in private practice, vestibular assessment/rehabilitation, trends in hearing aid technology, telespeech, voice assessment and applied behavior analysis.
The programme received approval and special credit points from the Rehabilitation Council of India.
