Bengaluru, Mar 29: In the second phase of Lok Sabha election in the state, filing of nominations began on Thursday. On the first day, 20 nominations were filed. Those who chose to file nominations on the opening day included B Y Raghavendra, son of Yeddyurappa from Shivamogga, BJP MP, Suresh Angadi in Belagavi , and coalition candidate, Veena Kashappanavar in Bagalakote.
In the second phase of election in the state, election will be held for 14 constituencies in the state on April 23. These 20 nominations were filed by 15 candidates. No nominations were filed in Kalaburagi, Raichur, Bidar, and Dharwad constituencies on the first day. A nomination each were filed in Chikkodi, Uttara Kannada and Davanagere constituencies, two each in Belagavi, Vijayapura, Haveri and Koppala, and three each in Shivamogga, Ballari and Bagalakote constituencies.

Efforts of the leaders of the coalition to convince rebel candidate, Muddahanume Gowda to withdraw his nomination in Tumakuru constituency have not succeeded so far. Friday is the last date for withdrawal of nominations. Another rebel, K N Rajanna, too has remained in the fray here.
