Mangaluru Mar 28: Deputy commissioner (DC) Sasikanth Senthil inaugurated a youth voters’ awareness programme here at Srinivas College at Pandeshwar on Thursday, March 28, organised by district administration, district SVEEP committee and Srinivas University, Mangaluru.
Addressing the gathering, DC Sasikanth Senthil said, "Earlier, election was a boring process. But now, the Election Commission has become proactive and has come out with new aspects. I want young voters to experience it once. Voting is not compulsory, but it is our right. Cast your vote and try to know how the system works. If you skip voting, you need to wait for another five years to exercise your democratic right.”
Zilla panchayath CEO Dr R Selvamani said, "You should celebrate your democratic right by casting your vote at the polling station. To know whether your name exists in the voters’ list, dial 1950 or log in into Chunavana App.”
Pro-chancellor of Srinivas University Srinivas Rao said, "Many ask ‘What difference will one vote make’. One vote can make a lot of difference. Every single vote is precious.”
Vice chancellor of Srinivas University P S Ithal welcomed the gathering, Dr Shailashree V T and Dr Vijayalaxmi Naik compered the programme.
