Bengaluru, Mar 27: Govindarajanagar MLA V Somanna said that campaigning for Bengaluru South candidate Tejasvi Surya will take place only after there is a clear explanation given on why Tejaswini Ananth Kumar missed the ticket.
The wife of the late union minister Ananth Kumar was the front runner for the ticket. She being denied the opportunity in the last minute has upset the BJP leaders and party workers.
Speaking to reporters after meeting Tejaswini at her residence, MLA Somanna blamed Basavanagudi MLA LA Ravi Subramanya, who is Tejasvi Surya’s uncle. Somanna blamed Subramanya for prioritizing his relatives, as one became a corporator and now Tejasvi got the ticket.
“I told Ravi that I know the truth behind Tejaswini’s missing ticket. One cannot take the MP seat for granted as the candidate will play a huge role in our future,” he said.
The BJP leaders in the state will meet in the next three days, after which there will be clarity on high command’s decision.
Meanwhile, BJP state chief B S Yeddyurappa denied dissent within the party over Tejaswi Surya’s selection. “Everyone has accepted the decision and will work to ensure the candidates victory,” he said.
