Udupi, Mar 27: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha independent candidate Amrith Shenoy has asserted that there is no chance of him withdrawing his nomination from the Lok Sabha polls.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, March 27, he said, "There is no support for JD(S) in this area. There is also no candidate in this constituency. I will not waste our workers efforts. We are convinced that we have already created an environment against BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje throughout the district.
I have not been to any leader for election ticket. I would have surey been working on their behalf if anyone else would have been given the ticket, he said.
“We oppose the decision to hand over the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency to JD(S). Also, all the leaders of the district have condemned the high command's judgment. Now JD(S) has fielded former minister Pramod Madhwaraj. This is unfortunate. So I have decided to compete as a rebellious candidate and send a good message to the high command,” he said.
“This is not a competition for my selfishness. This is the demand of the public and my ideological struggle,” he added.
“I have not approached any leader for the ticket. If any other had received a ticket from Congress, I would have worked on their behalf. Pramod Madhwaraj had come to me before filing his nomination papers. He had advised him to think wisely and not to take a rigid decision," he said.
