Margao, Mar 2: To chalk out proper plans and strategies to strengthen the booth committees, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday February 28, had organized a meeting of the party’s Mandal presidents, general secretaries, election committee, south district office-bearers and district office-bearers including Mahila,Yuva and all other wings at Mahamaya Hall Fatorda.
While the Congress is yet to declare the names of its Loksabha candidates, the BJP has already initiated plans to face the forthcoming Loksabha election, by announcing the names of its candidates and convening meetings.
With a view to guide the party workers of South Goa suitably, the BJP had convened this meeting. Representatives of all the wings of BJP and members from all 20 constituencies of South Goa were present at this meeting. Around 200 party office bearers attended the meeting.
Leader of opposition in the assembly Manohar Parrikar chaired the meeting and sought to enlighten the participants the ways and means of tackling problems and ensuring victory for the party candidates.
Candidate for South Goa Narendra Sawaikar appealed to the workers to work unitedly and tirelessly with the sole aim of gaining victory for the party in South Goa. He reiterated that if they stand together, work unitedly and diligently, no one would be able to stop the party from winning the seat.
Vice president of the party’s state unit Prakash Velip, MLA Ramesh Tawadkar, South District general secretary Prabhakar Gaonkar, former MLA and convener of South Election Committee Vinay Tendulkar, MLA Damodar Naik and others were present at the dais.
Most of the speaker stressed that it is advantage to the party that it has already declared the candidate. This will help to convince the people and to narrate them how we can steer the development of Goa.
The party’s candidate Sawaikar has already completed his first round of visit to almost all the assembly constituencies of South Goa. People and workers from these constituencies have reportedly given him good response and extended the assurance to put in their best efforts to get him elected.
With a view to strengthen its organizational network, the BJP for the first time, has declared the formation of Mandals in all the 20 constituencies of South Goa.
The election committee for South Goa was declared by Parrikar, under the presidentship of MLA Damodar Naik.
