Chikkaballapur, March 25: AICC leader and former union law minister M Veerappa Moily filed his nomination from Chikkaballapur Lok Sabha constituency as the Congress-JD(S) coalition candidate on Monday, March 25.
Before filing his nomination, he raised concerns on people voting on basis of caste, and said this could harm the coalition in the state.
“If one votes for BJP candidate B N Bache Gowda as he is from Vokkaliga community, then what will happen to the coalition government headed by HD Kumaraswamy who too is from the Vokkaliga community? It will affect the coalition government,” he said.
The JD(S) workers should think about H D Kumaraswamy and vote for the coalition candidate, he said.
When Bache Gowda was asked to react, he said no one votes by seeing caste or religion. “All of it is lies. All see the party, the nation and Modi to vote. While no one votes based on religion, no one also asks votes in name of religion,” he said.
“I don’t know about the different castes that exist. I am not asking votes on basis of caste. I am only asking people to vote for BJP,” he said.
“As it’s a coalition government, it’s normal for them to contest in a united manner. However, with this the competition has become direct. Earlier, the competition was triangular. It is easier to win in a direct competition and people too are of the opinion that BJP should win,” Bache Gowda said.
