Mangalore, Feb 28: Rumours that an unidentified boat had passed through Manjeshwar Hosabettu seashore at high speed on Thursday February 27, has sent the fishermen, coast guard and the police intelligence wing into a tizzy.
After some unidentified boats were sighted off the Mumbai port of late, the Kerala state intelligence has asked the coast guard and the coastal security force to be alert to face any eventuality. Some days back, two speed boats had been sighted near the Sappati seashore in Thane district, Maharashtra. Even though the navy and coast guard boats had given the boats a hot chase, they had failed to find out the identity or whereabouts of these boats. Reportedly, the fishermen had seen those boats, just 110 kms away from Tarapur Nuclear Plant.
The coast guard all over Kerala including Kozhikode, Ernakulam and Trivendrum, has intensified their patrolling and vigil of the coast in view of perceived threat from the sea route. The intelligence wing has also warned that such boats may travel to Mangalore through Kannur and Kozhikode.
Reportedly, the speed of the boat that passed the Manjeshwar Coast on Friday was very high and it made tremendous noise as it sailed through the sea waters away from the coast. The policemen however, say they have not received any official complaint on the incident.
