Chikmagalur, Feb 27: Former President of India A P J Abdul Kalam gave a clarion call to the young men and women of the country to join the political field in large numbers, towards facilitating the country to have a positively qualitative administration. He was speaking after inaugurating the Science Centre started at Sringeri and participating in Pamdashree Awardee Gaurishankar's felicitation programme there on Thursday February 26.
"When good people foray into politics, the chances of the country getting a good administration and achieving development, brightens. Every one in the country should nurture a dream of planting as many saplings as possible. If every one contributes towards environmental conservation, we can see the country becoming greener," he advised.
"So many people have achieved because of sheer hard work and by gaining knowledge. We should aim at doing these things. Gaining knowledge is our primary concern while studying in schools and college, and knowledge represents being active and being courageous. Learning makes a man creative," he noted. Adding that parents and religious centres work to enrich one's heart, he said being positive and courageous makes realizing things easier.
"Use of nuclear power is a necessity to combat outside enemies. Every one should contribute towards development, to realize the dream of total development of the country within the next ten years. Let us be prepared for this. Let us work for rural development and eradicate corruption. Our leaders should support these causes by taking concrete steps," he said.
Journalist Prabhakar Karant welcomed. Padmashree awardee Dr Suresh, MLA D N Jeevaraj and Math administrative officer Gaurishankar addressed the gathering. On this occasion, Gaurishankar and his wife were honoured. Earlier, Kalam met spriritual head of Sringeri Math Bharatiteerta Swamiji.
