Udupi, Mar 22: Shobha Karandlaje who filed her nomination as the BJP candidate in Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency expressed confidence that BJP will win at least 22 seats in the state.
Addressing a press meet at BJP office Kadiyali here on Friday, March 22, she said youth are working enthusiastically to achieve the same result.
“I would like to thank BJP union leaders for giving me an opportunity to work with Narendra Modi once again. BJP will win in majority in all constituencies. I will put in sincere effort in bringing Central government schemes and programmes to the constituency. There is a need to improve tourism in Udupi and also strengthen the coffee growers. I will look into the same,” she said.
“Today I have submitted nomination symbolically as it is Friday and believed to be an auspicious day. On March 26, I will file nomination again publicly,” she said.
“Defense minister Nirmala Sitharaman will visit Udupi on March 25. On March 26, she will visit Sri Krishna math in the morning and after that she will address at public meeting at Chittaranjan circle here. At 12 pm she will meet Deputy Commissioner and have an interaction with fishermen. Later, the minister will conduct a press meet,” she said.
The BJP has decided to organise different kinds of party conventions in two districts like fishermen convention, women convention and party workers meeting. These scheduled programmes should get over by March 31, she added.
From March 31 to April 7, booth level meetings will be organised and from April 7 the door to door publicity work will begin.
“Ever since the coalition government formed, there is fight on one issue or other. Earlier, there was problem of selecting district-in-charge minister. From two months, the state government is busy allocating seats. It has forgotten development of the state. It does not have concern for people. It has announced that more than 170 taluks are facing famine, but are doing nothing,” she alleged
"Mahagathbandhan is a huge failure. First let them show in their own respective states their unity," she ridiculed.
“I wish that people will bless Modi by showering him with votes. We should vote Modi for country’s development and security of this nation. We cannot be soldiers, who protect our border, but we can build strength in them. I will always be with the people,” she assured.
When asked about social media trolling her, she said when a candidate has been announced, every BJP worker must be united and work together like soldiers.
Commenting on ‘NOTA Abhiyan’ in social media she said it is conspiracy of Congress party. “They have no candidate in Udupi – Chikkamagaluru constituency and are playing these tactics to hide their disappointments,” she alleged.
“I am sure that people will vote for Modi and Lotus sign. We will not be victims of any conspiracy,” she said.
“There is no restriction for contesting election in a democratic system and it is personal decision. Our intention is strengthening the party and candidates. I do not have idea of competition between coalition candidate and BJP, but have to see what will happen,” she said when questioned on the competition factor.
"Prime Minister Modi’s development works and protection of our country will be an agenda of this Loka Sabha election. People of Udupi are brave and educated enough to think and choose the right person," she said.
“Those who are continuing hereditary in politics, they do not understand the democracy and patriotism. They are under illusion, that they will serve the state,” Shobha said taking a dig at the H D Devegowda family.
Modi does not want certificate from anybody and Modi is moving on in his way. He is must for the development of economy. Who else is there equal to Modi? she questioned.
