Mangaluru, Mar 22: Athena Institute of Health Sciences celebrated the graduation ceremony of 13th batch of GNM, 11th batch of BSc, 8th batch of PB BSc and MSc Nursing on Thursday, March 21 at town hall.
The programme was inaugurated with lamp lighting by the dignitaries. Stephen Mascarenhas ‘Hemacharya’ editor-in-chief Daijiworld Weekly was the chief guest and Dr Larrisa Martha Sams, the principal of Laxmi Memorial college of Nursing was the guest of honour. R S Shettian, chairman of Athena Institute of Health Sciences presided over the function. Asha Shettian, secretary of Athena Institute of Health Sciences and Dr Ashith Shettian, the trustee, also was among the dignitaries on the dais.
As many as 123 graduates received their certificate. Ansu Valentine secured overall 10th rank in the RGUHS final year PB BSc examination conducted by RGUHS in September 2018 and other 58 students who secured subject wise ranks from BSc and PB BSc Nursing and many other prizes and award holders too was honoured. Dr Sr Alphonsa, vice principal welcomed the gathering and Prof Sr Dhanya Devasia presented the annual report.
Stephen Mascarenhas ‘Hemacharya’ congratulated the graduates and stressed the need to offer the service with a smile through his own life example. Dr Larrisa Martha Sams, the guest of honour also reaffirmed the need to offer the service with smile and to update oneself especially with regard to skills of nursing. Anaklita Dorina Misquith and Charishma Veigas, faculty of Athena College of Nursing compared the programme. Sharlet Dsouza, associate professor, department of Paediatric Nursing rendered the vote of thanks. Programme came to an end with a wonderful cultural programme by the students and sumptuous dinner.
