Mangalore, Feb 25: Two members of the Students Islamic Organization (SIO) were admitted to a private hospital in the city with injuries after they were beaten up by miscreants in Puttur while putting up posters.
Ahmed Nafih (15) and Muhammed Iliyaz (17) are the injured students. Both are residents of Puttur. Nafih is from Salmara and studies in the ninth standard in Mountain View School while Iliyaz is from Parladka and a second PUC student at Esha Tutorials.
Iliyaz claimed that they were beaten up by a group of 30 people who initially questioned them about the posters and the organization.
The duo was putting up the posters on walls and by the road near Nehru Nagar in Puttur. The posters were about an SIO programme in Mangalore about the atrocities on students including the pub attack, and the harassment of the Kerala MLA’s daughter.
Nafih alleged that the miscreants spoke in a rude manner and did not allow them to make calls on their mobile phones, instead snatched it along with their wallets.
The police at Puttur have taken statements from the victims and registered a case. Their phones and wallets were also returned by the police.
The injured boys claimed that they had never seen their attackers before and did not know which organization they belonged to. They added that the miscreants refused to listen to them.
