Bengaluru: Prakash Rai to file nomination as independent candidate with rally on Mar 22

Bengaluru, Mar 21: Multi-lingual actor Prakash Rai, known for his outspokenness especially regarding actions and policies of the central government, is all set to mark his official entry into politics with a rally.

The actor will be contesting as an independent candidate from Bengaluru Central in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

Rai will file his nomination on Friday March 22 with a rally at 9 am from Nanda ground, Austin Town, to BBMP office at Hudson circle via Richmond road.


Over the past two years, Prakash Rai has been vocal about various issues relating to the central government and some of its ministers and MPs. He has repeatedly criticised fringe groups over the issue of 'Hindutva' and had launched a social media campaign called '#JustAsking' encouraging people to question the government.

In the past few days since he announced his candidature, Prakash Rai has been focussing on issues like lack of accountability in public education system, transport and other public services, waste disposal issue in Bengaluru, and expressed his support to Bengalureans who are against the proposed elevated corridor project.
