Mangaluru, Mar 21: The suspense over who will get the Congress ticket from Dakshina Kannada will be over in few hours time from now. The leaders, who have reached New Delhi after the Congress high command summoned them, are waiting eagerly for the result. But as per sources, youth leader Mithun Rai is on forefront in getting the ticket.

Ramanath Rai, Vinay Kumar Sorake, Rajendra Kumar, Mithun Rai, Kanachur Monu and B K Hariprasad are aspirants. They have been called by the high command. District Congress president Harish Kumar and in-charge minister U T Khader too have been called for series of meetings in New Delhi.

Before allotting ticket, high command wants to make sure that only winning candidate gets the ticket. The top leaders want to make sure that the candidate is capable of taking all other leaders into confidence and will avail their services for victory of party.

Mithun Rai is on the forefront because he is young, energetic and also a good strategist, some sources said. Some TV channels have flashed the news as if he has been already chosen.

Mithun Rai is believed to be more capable of taking on current MP and BJP candidate Nalin Kumar Kateel. As Hindutva wave is strong in Dakshina Kannada, a leader like Mithun Rai can be a safe bet, believe Congress leaders.

It is only a matter of few hours before the name of Congress candidate is revealed.
