Udupi, Mar 20: A case stands registered against five people, including Amrith Shenoy, president of Sahabalve Udupi, for violating the code of conduct during the election campaign and making inciting speeches condemning religions.
Sahabalve Udupi president Amrith Shenoy, senior journalist and thinker Dinesh Amin Mattu, Dalit leader Inamdar Honnapur, Nagaraj and social thinker Mahendra Kumar are the people against whom the case was registered.
It is said that in the Sahabalve programme that was organized at Royal Garden of Kalsanka in the city on March 17, all the five have condemned the religions while canvassing for Lok Sabha elections.
Based on the complaint given by the election vigilance officer, a case was registered in the city police station, said police.
