Kodagu BJP leader Balachandra Kalagi dies in accident near Madikeri

Madikeri, Mar 19: In a tragic incident, a BJP leader from Kodagu died in an accident near here late evening on Tuesday March 19.

The deceased has been identified as Balachandra Kalagi (47).

Kalagi was the chief secretary of Kodagu district BJP and former president of Sampaje gram panchayat.

The accident took place between the Omni he was travelling in and a lorry. The impact of the collision was such that Kalagi died on the spot.

The body has been shifted to Madikeri district hospital.

A case has been registered in Madikeri rural police station.

As soon as news of the accident spread, BJP workers gathered in front of the hospital.

MP Pratap Simha and Virajpet MLA Bopaiah visited the hospital.

    Sorry to hear the death of BJP leader Balachandra at young age. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved members of the family. RIP. In the above photograph Lorry is on extreme right side of the road and Omni is on soil, so thorough investigation is required.
