Mangaluru: CFAL students selected for third stage of Mathematics and Biology Olympiad

Mangaluru, Mar 19: Three students from Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL) are selected for the prestigious third stage of Mathematics and Biology Olympiad programme, orientation cum selection camps - 2019, informed CFAL programme coordinator Vijay Moras.

Addressing media here on Tuesday, March 19, Moras said that Agney Gautham, Shreyas Pai and Aneesh Hebbar are the three students who are selected. “These three students are eligible to attend a three to four week orientation cum selection camp (OCSC) in Homi Bhaba Centre for Science Education and Research in Mumbai from where the nternational team gets selected,” he informed.

“On the basis of aggregate scores in OCS, the top 4 to 6 students selected at the end of the camp will represent India at the international Olympiads. They will be accompanied by two prominent teachers and an observer. Although many private entities conduct various exams called Olympiads, this is the only official Olympiad conducted by the government of India, Ministry of Human Resources that opens doors to the international level. The participation in such competitive examinations can motivate students with math and science aptitude to nourish and excel in their field of interest,” he added.

About the students

Agney Gautham is one among the 35 students from the country selected in Biology Olympiad. Although he is in class 10, he competed with class 11 and class 12 students and was selected. Shreyas Pai is one among 35 students from the country to be selected in Biology Olympiad. He had been selected for the camp last year (2018) in Biology Olympiad. He was the topper of Karnataka in Biology Olympiad in 1st stage. Aneesh Hebbar is one among 24 students selected for the country in the XII std. He had been selected for the camp last year (2018) in Mathematics Olympiad. He is also selected for APMO 2019 (The Asian pacific Mathematics Olympiad) which was held on March 12th.

Early Learning centre (ELC) Kindergarten wins award for innovation in curriculum

The prestigious education world magazine has awarded Early Learning Centre as one of India's promising preschools of the future with special recognition for innovation in curriculum. This is the second time that ELC is winning this award and it is the only school in Mangaluru that has been granted an award in this category.

Programme coordinators Sonia Moras and Severine Moras were present.
