Mangaluru, Mar 19: In order to encourage and boost the morale of the police personnel, who are generally overloaded with work pressure, ACP Srinivas Gowda of Mangaluru North sub-division has come up with a unique scheme.

For the first time in the history of the city police, 'Cop of the Month', a programme to honour the efficient, honest and hardworking cops is mooted. As a part of this one staff each from all the six police stations which fall under the limits of north division of the city, will be recognized for their good work and will be honoured by the department.

This programme is in trail implementation, right from the beginning of 2019. This is very unique initiative that is taken by the city police.

Accordingly, ACP Srinivas presented six persons each for the month of January and February with trophy having the emblem of Karnataka Police. From the month of March, ACP Srinivas plans to get the trophies presented to the recipients by the commissioner of police himself. Now on a trial basis, the personnel were honoured in the office of the ACP.

Giving the details of the scheme, ACP Srinivas Gowda says, "We have people who work really hard. But no one recognizes their efforts. At the end, when they get retired, some medal or trophy is given. Instead of this, we will select one person each from all the six police stations that come under our limits. We have identified certain benchmarks for this award. These trophies are made available through sponsors. This is an attempt to instill faith and love on the job of police personnel."
