Kundapur, Feb 24: A mass Brahmopadesham ceremony was held at Koteshwar Vishwakarma Kalyana Mantap near Kundapur on Sunday February 22.
The event was jointly organized by Vishwakarma Samaja Yuvaka Dala, Vishwakarma Brahmana Samaja Yuvaka Seva Sangh and Sridevi Mahila Mandali.
Delivering the benedictory address on the occasion, Shri Gurushiva Sujnanamurty Swamiji, Aremadanahalli Math, noted that the Vishwakarma community is rich both in terms of religiousness and upholding cultural values. But the upliftment of the community will not be possible unless the people of the community come closer to each other and work with unity, he felt.
The people of the community have recorded excellent achievements in the fields of arts and crafts. But this achievement has not been recognized by the government. Hence the people of the community must work in unison to win the recognition they rightly deserve, he said.
The traditional celebrations and rituals should be continued with, for preserving heritage, tradition and culture of Vishwakarmas, advised Shri Kalahastendra Saraswati Swamiji, Anegundi Samstan Math, speaking on the occasion.
Boloor Govinda Acharya, sculptor, and Narasimha Acharya, astrologer, were felicitated on the occasion.
Krishnamurty Acharya and Girish Acharya read out the citations.
G V Venkatesh Acharya co-ordinated the programme. Nagaraj Acharya welcomed the gathering. Ramakrishna Acharya proposed vote of thanks.
