Margao, Feb 23: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, February 22, advised the BJP booth workers from South Goa to put to use their skills, duly using science of and arduously follow the mantra of uniting country with justice for veryone. Through these policies, they can win over the hearts of the people. The BJP can sweep the election across Indian states, if these principles are put to practice doggedly, he felt. He also compared Rahul Gandhi to a fish confined to an aquarium.
While addressing Bhartiya Janata Party booth level workers convention held at the Costa Ground here, Modi appealed to the workers to win the hearts of people first and if they succeed in this task, he said nobody can stop the BJP candidates from getting elected, not only in Goa but also all across India.
Opposition leader in the assembly Manohar Parrikar, state party president Shripad Naik, South Goa BJP candidate Narendra Sawaikar, former state president of the party Rajendra Arlekar, MLAs Damodar Naik, Vijay Pai Khot, Ramesh Tawadkar and Vasu Gaonkar-Sanguem, Vinay Tendulkar, general secretary and spokesperson Govind Parvatkar, Sharmad Raiturkar, Siddhanath Buyao, councillor Kamlini Painginkar, Rupesh Mahatme and other were present on the dais.
Around 7,000 booth workers were present. Modi appreciated the crowd and praised the workers for their loyalty and commitment to the party.
He expressed the opinion, that if both the Loksabha candidates being fielded by the BJP win from Goa, the BJP will rise to power at the centre on its own and suggested to the workers to strengthen their booth-level coordination and work for the purpose. “For this to happen, you will have to work from today onwards,” he urged them.
“If BJP wins from 650 booths in South Goa, then our candidate Narendra Sawaikar will surely come out victorious,”he said and reiterated that the booth level work should be strengthened.
Modi came down heavily on the Congress party for what he termed, as the politics of appeasement followed by it and the money power being wielded by them for weaning away votes of other parties during the election. Modi said, the BJP will never resort to this practice, as the party principles do not allow for such covertive practices.
“Our hearts are with our country. We believe in democracy and those who believe in these things can never commit sins. But the Congress commits sin by misusing the power of its government machinery and of its leadership,” he alleged.
BJP can not match the challenge posed by the Congress to win the election by using money power and such other dubious techniques they practice. But, we can win the elections by promising justice to all and relying on the mantra of uniting the country, he stated.
Tossing taunts at the Congress, he said “Paap Ka Rasta Congress Ko Mubarak Ho”.
Lambasting the United Proressive Alliance(UPA) government, he said that the alliance partners are not in position to campaign for votes on development plank, as their government has failed to achieve development, about which the people are fully aware. “To conceal their failure, they have started propaganda in the name of
youth involvement,” Modi alleged.
He compared Rahul Gandhi to the fish in an aquarium and not from the sea or river. “He is just a show piece of a political family. But BJP leaders, who are like the fishes found in the seas, know how to tackle the big waves of seas and oceans,” he claimed.
He challenged any of the UPA leaders to come out with details the steps initiated by their government to eradicate terrorism. Modi also pointed out that during the regime of the National Democratic Alliance led by the BJP at the centre, there was no scarcity of commodities like wheat, rice and others. “Now, wheat is
been imported and there are many big sharks of corruption behind this scam,” he stated.
“Let the opposition candidates come on our turf and fight the election. I know they will not survive, as our path is of justice and non-corruption,” Modi said further.
Opposition leader Manohar Parrikar berated the state Congress government, criticizing it for failing to do anything worthy in cases of temple desecration, rape and several other cases.
“Who is safe in Goa? Three-year old babies and 68 years old grandmothers are being raped in the state. What is the government doing to put an end to these things?,” Parrikar questioned pointedly.
“If our county is to become prospersous in all fields, the BJP has to be voted to power at the centre. Congress should be sent packing towards permanent retirement,” Parrikar said further.
South Goa Loksabha candidate from the party, Narendra Sawaikar in his speech, assured the people that he would try his level best to arrest the unemployment facing Goa state, by giving preference to the unemployed youth in providing jobs in central government establishments functioning in the state, if he gets elected.
He also assured that he will try to give some solace to fisherman affected because of the Coastal Regulatory Zone rules.
State party president Shripad Naik appealed to the people to give a chance to BJP and see for themselves the changes that take place as a result. Electing BJP candidate is most important, as there is no law and order in the state at present, he said.
“We should take various issues that are haunting the country as a result of the misrule at the centre, to the people. We should convince them about the need to change guard at the centre, Naik said further.
President of the BJP Election Committee Damodar Naik said that bringing a change has become very much necessary and therefore, the Congress government should be shown the doors. People have the capacity to make it happen and they should prove it by making both the Loksabha candidate of the BJP from Goa, he requested.
Former party state president Rajendra Arlekar, MLAs Vijay Pai Khot, Mahadev Naik and Ramesh Tawadkar tooo spoke at the convention.
