Mangalore: Excise Officials Unearth Hooch Brewery, Seize Equipments

Mangalore, Feb 23: The officials of the excise department, during a raid conducted on Saturday February 21 at Tokkottu Adamkudru, seized hooch and other things used for its manufacture, totally worth around Rs 1.15 lac.

A total of 300 litres of spurious liquor, 3,000 litres of fermented concoction, 600 litres of spirit, utensils used for brewing the illicit liquor, cauldron etc were seized during the operation.

Valerian D'Souza, accused of running the unit, is absconding.

    Sir, The Hooch business is existing in Mangalore from a very long time, however there were so many cases come to light and people responsible get away or else released in Bail. I strongly believe that even the Police are behind it and they are getting their cut from these Hooch makers. I have seen my self a Hooch guys doing at their own home in Attawar, this place was raided by the excise sometime back the guys got away and they started in someother place. So how do the police ERADICATE this menance in the Future??? do they have any strategy.
