Mangaluru Mar 17: Fudar Pratishthan, a trust working for the betterment of Canara Catholics, on Sunday, March 17 organised 'Fudar Pratishthan Puraskar-2019', a felicitation programme for students who have scored ranks in SSLC and PUC at Milagres Jubilee Hall.
Bishop of Mangaluru diocese Dr Peter Paul Saldanha inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.
Addressing the gathering, bishop said, "This programme of honouring the students who have scored ranks in SSLC and PUC is a meaningful one. It is our duty to recognize such students and felicitate them in any form so that it will encourage them to do well in their future."
He also said, "We should make sure that young generation need to be guided in a right way so that they can achieve lot better in their academics as well in their professional career."
Associate professor Indian Institute of Science Prof Patrick Raymond D'Silva said, "I congratulate all the students for securing ranks in their academics. The felicitation for the students will be an encouragement for the students, Fudar Pratishthan has been recognizing such students and honouring them which is a great thing."
Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Prof Patrick Raymond D'Silva and Inspector Commercial Tax department Mangaluru Emline Josna D'Souza were felicitated.
As many as 173 Konkani catholic students who have scored ranks in SSLC and PUC from Mangaluru and Udupi diocese were honored.
Vice president Fudhar Pratishthan Fr Walter D'Mello welcomed the gathering.
President of Fudhar Pratishthan John D’Silva, president of Catholic Sabha Mangaluru Pradesh Rolphy D’Costa, president of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh Allwyn Quadros, secretary L J Fernandes, treasurer Elrew Kiran Crasto and others were present.
