Kadaba: 60-year-old man dies mysteriously at river bank youth party

Kadaba, Mar 17: A group of yougsters had a party on the bank of river Kumaradhara at Ulippu of Kutrupadi village in the taluk on the night of Friday, March 15 during which a member of the group dies mysteriously.

Kurian (60), a resident of Ulippu is the deceased person. His dead body was found in the river. Annamma, wife of the deceased, has complained to the town police expressing suspicion at the death of her husband Kurian and police have registered a case of suspicious death.

It is said that the deceased Kurian joined local youths Anil Varghese, Britto, Sandesh, Sajan and Sandeep, who consumed alcohol during the party. Kurian's wife Annamma was aware of the fact that her husband had gone with the group of youngsters for the party. As Kurian did not come back to house till late in the night, Annamma contacted the other five people in the group. They replied that Kurian had already left the party before quite some time. When the concerned Annamma, along with others, searched for Kurian, they found his body floating in the river.

Police are conducting an inquiry with five people who had partied along with the deceased Kurian. The body of the deceased has been sent to higher examination to Mangaluru after doing a post- mortem in the Kadaba government hospital.

Acting sub-inspector of Uppinangady police station, Pradeep Gunte, IPS, Puttur DySP Muralidhar and Puttur rural circle inspector Manjunath visited the spot and conducted spot inspection. Prakash Devadiga, sub-inspector of Kadaba police station briefed the police higher officials about the incident.
