Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Mar 16: The customs officers at Mangaluru International Airport on Saturday March 16 thwarted yet another attempt to smuggle gold.

A passenger who arrived from Dubai by SpiceJet flight SG60 was apprehended by the officials at the airport.

On screening the said passenger, the officials detected gold concealed in the rectum of the passenger.

The gold was found to be of foreign origin and in the form of powder/paste.

The 23.5 karat gold weighing 632 grams, valued at Rs 19.49 lac was later seized by the officials.

This is the second case of its kind this week. On March 11, the customs officials seized gold worth Rs 15.92 lac, again concealed in the rectum of the passenger who arrived from Dubai.

These poor smugglers are not aware that the latest metal detectors are so powerful that even a wet handkerchief in the pocket can be detected. I was surprised when it happened with me recently at Mumbai Airport.

People never learn.Best is customs should put pressure on passanger to findout who is behind this ,inland and foreign.Such business îs done by only certain goldhandlers for a small money. These passengers fly often between the buyer and giver..I can only say to such carriers ,stupids.
