Udupi, Mar 16: In a major turnaround in the selection of the BJP candidate for the Lok Sabha constituency of Udupi-Chikkamagaluru, youth leader of the city, lawyer and social worker Prem Prasad Shetty is likely to get the nod from the party high command.

According to sources, within the party, the central leaders are trying to project a candidate who has the Sangh Parivar background so that the party may be further strengthened in the coastal region of the state.

The leaders of Sangh Parivar are of the opinion that Prem Prasad Shetty, who is known for his leadership capabilities as a student leader in ABVP with his high education background BA, LLB, MBA degrees and in the profession of a lawyer, is the suitable candidate.

Prem Prasad Shetty has given job opportunities to scores of students and youth of the district through his voluntary organization ‘Sanchalana’. In addition, he got married in a simple way along with other couples in a mass marriage event. Thereby he has become a role model to the society.

Prem has also printed ‘Your gift, Modi once more’ (Nimma Udugore, Modi Mattomme) in Kannada language in his invitation card, expressing his admiration for the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was in news because of this action.

It seems that the top leaders of BJP are supporting the demand of the lower level party workers of giving suitable position to loyal activists of the party. Prem Prasad Shetty has worked as the state secretary of Yuva Morcha of the party for the past three years and carried out duties efficiently in the Parivartana Yatre, Jana Suraksha Yatre and Mangaluru Chalo programmes conducted by the BJP.

Prem Prasad Shetty has actively involved himself in many protests against the state government. He has played a vital role in the victory of BJP candidates in 18 constituencies in the last assembly elections, by accompanying the national leaders in the organizational tour in 21 constituencies of four districts of the state.
