Karkala, Feb 21: Thousands of students from five taluks of Dakshina Kannada district took out a rally through the main streets of Moodbidri, near here, on Friday February 20.
The uniforms worn by the students of primary and high schools conveyed equality and kindled patriotism as they raised slogans about unity in diversity among Indians. The students stayed enthusiastic throughout the rally despite the scorching sun.
They carried various gymnasts’ props and were supported by the ‘James Band’ from Uttar Kannada. A national brotherhood children's fair was organized by Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Model Higher Primary School, Maine, near here, at Babu Rajendra Prasad playground. It was held in association with the public instruction department and Bharat Seva Dal.
Zilla panchayat president Sucharita Shetty inaugurated the rally by magically pulling out a cap from the banner.
Speaking on the occasion, Shetty said that by promoting brotherhood national security can be effectively strengthened.
Municipal councilor Bhoja Kotian, Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat education standing committee president K Santosh Kumar Bhandary, former minister K Amarnath Shetty, Bahubali Prasad, Koragappa, Vishwanath Prabhu, Jagdish Adikari, U R Sabapati, Andaru Deviprasad Shetty, P Krishna, Harikrishna Punaroor, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Seva Dal district president Alban Franco, Philomena Lobo, Prasanna V Shenoy, Rajasri, and S Prasanna Kumar Jain, were present on the occasion.
Former Seva Dal district president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, host school head teacher Lilly Serrao, physical training instructor D Shekar, and school development committee member R Raghuveer Shenoy, were felicitated on the occasion.
Amritlalji High School student Kala Rai bagged the Seva Dal state president's award and Rs 1,000 cash prize for excellent marchpast.
