Udupi, Mar 14: “I oppose the decision taken by the Congress high command to give the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency to JD (S). Even 10% of voters do not support JD (S) in our constituency,” said Amrith Shenoy, member of AICC.

Speaking to Daijiworld Media, Amrith further said, “I will submit my intense protest to the party authorities against this decision. If the Congress high command does not change its decision, then I will take further step. I have also thought of resigning from the membership of AICC. I will also think of contesting as an independent candidate.”

“Winning or losing is not important. What is important is not compromising with the ideology. I do not force anyone to agree to my decision. I am grateful to all of you for supporting me. If I only protest against the injustice meted out by BJP and swallow the injustice of Congress, I will be deceiving my conscience. I feel suffocated. Excuse me; I am not able to digest the decision of high command of offering the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha seat to JD (S).

When questioned, whether high command contacted anyone from the district Congress committee before taking the final decision, Amrith said, “I have no idea because I was busy with KPCC training.”

    Congress and JDS already lost in Udupi & Mandya. Now among balance 26 constituency in Karnataka, they may lose another 5 to 6 simply because of poor strategy. I personally feel JDs is having potential to win only 2 or 3 seats. If JDS contest in 8 constituencies balance 5 to 6 seats will be easy gift to BJP by Congress.

    I ALWAYS SUPPORT MODI JI. But i never voted for congress in my life. But, i know Amrith anna personally. He is a gem of a person. Leaders in Udupi congress are always better than BJP leaders in helping. Only because of MODI, BJP survive in whole India. Amrithanna always helped whenever we asked for his help. Anyways, Amrithanna no need of certificate from Congress, u are a Good human being. That's enough for us.

    Amrith Shenoy is right. I was hoping Congress will field young candidates like Amrith Shenoy but they seems to be not interested in winning or even giving a close to fight BJP.

    Amrith Shenoy is a very good candidate who has been public life from his student days and also speak sense on political and people issues. He should contest as Independent and i hope people support him.

    Both the parties have ignored the booth level workers in deciding the coilation or sharing the MP seats

    It is true that the educated masses have been brainwashed by sanghi ideology of hate in DK and Udipi districts and the infighting within the congress between the Moily and Poojary camps have made things even worse. However, congress is still a potent force in the coastal region. Therefore one finds it ridiculous and shocking to see why the Congress is allocating this seat to the JD(s) which does not even have a 2% voter share here. This is a gift on a platter to the BJP. Maybe as one comment here has suggested, this is a ploy to safeguard the Chikkaballapur seat for Moily. Congress knows that the Chickkaballapur seat is safe and hence wants to give the Udipi seat to the JDS, where it is not sure of victory. For the JDS it does not matter at all ,as it gives them an opportunity to increase their vote share in the coastal areas.

    In Udupi district, Congress lost all 5 MLA seats to BJP, apart from this chances of winning this time from Udupi is very thin for Congress, believe this is one of the main reason for this decision. In my opinion, Amrit Shenoy should do
    (1) Raise his concern internally using his present AICC position
    (2) Try to take the leadership at district level by convincing the party
    (3) Build Panchayath level team, contest panchayat, TP, ZP, elections and build the party
    (4) Prepare himself for next MP election

    Is it a formula to safeguard Moilys Chikkaballapur seat??? Its a great disappointment for Grass root level Youth leaders like Mr. Amrith Shenoy from Congress. Even they forgot this constituency gave rebirth to Congress Iron lady Indrira Gandhi !!!

    Cong might have thought it is difficult to win Udupi-Chikkamagaluru, UK and Shivamogga, so has given to JDS.

    But it will slowly erase its base in these places because of the discontent of workers.

    Seat adjustment is a win for JDS and loss for Cong, as JDS might increase its tally from the present two to three or four and it it will try to improve its base to regions where it did not have significant presence.

    Cong has fallen to cunning tactics of Gowda Family.
