Mandya, Mar 13: Sumalatha Ambareesh has confirmed on Facebook that she is indeed going to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from the district only.
This statement on Facebook by Sumalatha was in response to rumours making rounds that she is not going to contest from Mandya constituency. In addition, she requested her well-wishers and people in general not to buy any cooked up stories.
The actor partook in a hunger strike organized by like-minded people near the statue of Viswesharaiah in the city urging tickets to only locals. Speaking to scribes, Sumalatha said that she is not bothered about charges against her and she will not comment on them.
Sumalatha, who is on the tour of the district for the past two weeks, pays visits to temples wherever she goes. So far she has visited 15 temples of the district and has visited all the eight taluks including K R Nagar.
The probable opponent of Sumalatha in the constituency, Nikhil son of CM Kumaraswamy and MLA Anita Kumaraswamy is being ably supported by his mother Anita as she is also campaigning for him by visiting temples in the district.
Campaign against D K Shivakumar
