Hassan, Mar 13: In a surprise move, former PM and JD (S) supremo Deve Gowda said that he will not contest in elections this time.
Deve Gowda was in the city, on Wednesday, March 13, on his way to attend a programme at Mudlahippe of Holenarasipura taluk of the district. Responding to the questions of the media persons, he said, “I have decided not to contest in the elections. The seat sharing formula between Congress and JD (S) is still not decided. Once the same is finalized, I will discuss with Rahul Gandhi,”
Deve Gowda further said, “Right now Rahul Gandhi is busy in campaigning in the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Orissa. In the next three days, we will have a meeting with Rahul Gandhi. It is a tradition to visit temple before any auspicious work. Revanna always thinks about ‘Dinashuddi’. I have started campaigning from the village of Mudlahippe.”
Deve Gowda did not clarify whether he will not contest only in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections or any other elections in future.
