Kundapur, Mar 12: A person, who suddenly crossed the road in front of the vehicles that were ferrying deputy commissioner (DC) and superintendent of police (SP), who were travelling from Udupi to Kundapur, at Thekkatte at around 7.45 pm on Monday, March 11, was sent to Kota police station.
DC Hephsiba Rani Korlapati and SP Nisha James were travelling in their respective vehicles towards Kundapur. Premananda (55), a resident of Guddeangadi crossed in front of the vehicles suddenly. When both the vehicles stopped, he tried to escape. Both the officers called Kota police and asked them to take the man to the police station.
It is learnt that Premananda gave a confusing statement in the police station saying that "I have come from a hospital. I got down at Thekkatte as I did not know where should I go? I have to go to Guddeangadi."
Speaking on the issue, DC Hephsiba said, "When we were travelling to Kollur on NH 66, a person was walking in a zigzag manner on the road when the vehicles were moving at speed, causing obstruction to traffic as well as danger to his own life. So for his own safety as well as the safety of the vehicle drivers, we brought the matter to the notice of the Kota police and asked them to take the man to Kota police station."
