Udupi, Mar 10: "Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself is a partner in corruption. ‘Chaukidar Chor hai’," said former chief minister and senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah during Parivarthana Yathra organized by Udupi district Congress committee, at Royal Garden Kalsanka here on Sunday, March 10.
In the rally organised in order to convey the pro-people programmes of the party as well as a prelude to the upcoming Loka Sabha elections, Siddaramaiah said, "Now where is Acche Din? Let Modi present figures and data of development works and sanctioned funds in five years. When he came to Karnataka, he never spoke about his promises made prior to 2014 polls. Now the unemployment rate has increased up to 7.2%. Modi could give jobs only to 27 lac youth. I am in politics since last 40 years. But I never saw such a liar in my service. This election is not between two parties, but it is for the survival of democracy, Constitution of India and for truth."
Siddaramaiah challenged Modi for a open debate and said, "Let Modi come and I will also join. We will discuss about progress and developmental activities of our two parties. But the truth is, Yeddyurappa and Shobha Karandlaje are not ready to come for this debate. Shobha Karandlaje’s contribution to the coastal region is zero. ‘What has she done for her constituency?", he asked.
"Modi kept open the doors of banks only for rich people. BJP set fire in three districts intentionally. There are killers in BJP and provoke others to murder. Some BJP politicians were saying that ‘they will change democracy if they come to power. But, everything should be within the limits of Constitution of India."
"If Rahul Gandhi becomes the Prime Minister, he will re-implement 33% reservation for women and all farmers debts will be waived off in one phase. BJP belongs to Hitler's family. They do not have concern for farmers. People should choose Congress to save democracy. It is 100% sure that Congress party will win Lok Sabha elections and Rahul Gandhi will become the Prime Minister of India," he added.
KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao said, “Modi fooled people with his speeches. Public was expecting big changes, but nothing happened. BJP do not want to discuss what they did in five years. BJP lied to everyone. We do not have the intention of talking bad things about Modi, but his fake promises made us talk.
“The prime minister did not allow the release of statistical track record of Modi government, which was prepared by statistics council.
“BJP is playing politics in the name of God and religion. Demonetisation was heights of craziness. Because of this policy, many small industries lost their existence and youths become jobless.
“They used Paresh Mesta’s demise as a political weapon, but now forgotten him. What happened to the CBI investigation? BJP does not want to disclose the truth. We bow our head to the work done by Indian Air Force. But please do not use it for political gaining and to hide your failures.
“If Modi was really a Chowkidar of India, how did Pulwama attack take place? Is this the reality of being ‘Chowkidar’? Being a prime minister, he is supposed to create a feeling of oneness among public. Today there is a atmosphere of fear. The number of murders is increased in five years.
“Winning Chikkamagaluru constituency is not an easy task. But let Congress party workers work together in order to help the Congress candidate win. If people want to get social justice, we need to send BJP home,” he said.
Dr Jayamala, district in charge minister Udupi said, “There is a close relationship between India and Congress. The current union government is not concerned about women and farmers. They had given many false promises to women. Let them tell what they did for farmers in waiving loans. People have seen administration of five years of the BJP government. Now it is time to change the government. More than 6.5 lac villages developed during the Congress’ regime. Only 18,000 villages saw development during the BJP government’s tenure.
Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said, “BJP is a violent party, and that we learnt by the twin murders that took place in Kota. BJP's zilla panchayat member is allegedly involved in this case. To protect democracy, this Loka Sabha election is important and for that Modi must be shown the door.”
AICC secretary Vishnunathan, senior leaders of the Congress party Oscar Fernandes, B K Hariprasad, minister U T Khader, former minister Pramod Madhwaraj, president of Mahila Congress of Karnataka, Pushpa Amarnath, former MLAs Gopal Bhandary, Udupi district in-charge G A Bava, leaders Rakesh Mailli, Udupi district president Ashok Kodavoor, all office bearers of district Congress were present.
