Bengaluru, Mar 9: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) will investigate the murder of notorious rowdy-sheeter Lakshmana, who was hacked to death in broad daylight.
The case was transferred to CCB by City police commissioner T Sunil Kumar on March 8, as the issue was grave.
Lakshmana (42), who is known to be the richest rowdy in the city, has over 25 criminal cases against him. He was out on bail two weeks ago. On March 7, a gang of five hacked him to death near ISKCON Temple in Mahalakshmi Layout.
The entire incident has been captured in a CCTV camera installed in an apartment building. The police are also investigating Lakshmana’s relationships with other gangs.
Lakshmana and his twin Rama were actively involved in criminal activities, especially land grab. Sources say that Lakshmana was close to several political parties and had political ambitions. The murder was supposedly a pre-planned operation. It is said that someone had convinced the rowdy to come to Mahalakshmi Layout alone and book a hotel room. The police found a hotel room key during investigation.
“We have sought all evidence from the jurisdictional police. The assailants will be arrested soon,” Additional Commissioner of Police (crime) Alok Kumar told media.
