Mangalore: COD Begins Investigation Into Ashwini's Suicide

Mangalore, Feb 15: A team of the Corps of Detectives (COD) led by superintendent of police Yogappa and other senior officials visited Maroor for an on-the-spot enquiry into the suicide case of 16-year-old Ashwini who committed suicide on Wednesday February 11 reportedly after being humiliated and insulted by a group of people.
The team, which arrived in Mulky on Saturday February 14 visited the government hospital here and collected the details of postmortem from Dr Savitha.
Meanwhile, another team led by deputy superintendent of police Seema Mishrakoti visited Moodbidri police station. They also interrogated the personnel of the bus in which Ashwini, her classmate Madhavi, and accused Salim had traveled.
The team will collect statements from Madhavi and her family. Superintendent of police N Satish Kumer has already obtained statements from the girl who is believed to be the lone eyewitness to the incident.
