Riyadh: PFI Stresses Need for New Political Front in India

Riyadh, Feb 15: “The Muslims in India have been left far behind and most often been exploited and browbeaten without getting proper justice and security under any government ever since independence. They have been utilized just for vote bank without being given any political representation either in the state or central legislature”, said K M Shareef, general secretary, Popular Front of India (PFI) while speaking at the 'Sneha Koota' held recently here.
The programme was organized by the PFI, Karnataka-Riyadh unit, as a precursor to the 'National Political Conference' going on at Calicut in Kerala from Friday February 13 to Sunday February 15.
He emphasized the need for bringing together the backward classes, Dalits, Christians, and others, to work towards getting their constitutional rights and to emerge as a big political power in India. Shareef said that they should launch their own political front to secure proper representation and seats both at the state and Central levels.
Another guest on the dais, Abdul Basheer, co-ordinator, PFI, Riyadh, shed light on the objective of the conference and said that it was to create awareness amongst the marginalized people about their basic rights and to show a roadmap to advancing towards economic and political empowerment in India.
The Sneha Koota saw more than 2,000 people in attendance, mostly Mangaloreans. The prgoramme was presided over by Haris Angaragundi.
Abdul Majeed Vittla, president, PFI Karnataka, Riyadh unit, Mohammed Shareef Jokatte, pesident PFI Karnataka, Dammam unit, and other PFI leaders like Haris Kerala, Fayaz Tamil Nadu, Siddiq Tamil Nadu, social workers, and senior residents like Parvez Katipalla, Nawaz Gurupura, Abbas Uchil, Thahir Kannannur, and Anwar Ullal were the guests present on the stage.
Haris Kalladka sang a melodious song and Hamza Bantwal proposed the vote of thanks.
